If you missed
the previous conventions in Belfast (1993, 1997, 2001) then
make a date for the next one - May 25th to May 28th 2006. Where
better place to celebrate the official 25th anniversary of our
famous stainless steel gull-wing. Belfast is now firmly established
as a "must see" city and is becoming internationally
recognised as a great place for a night out or a weekend break.
There are even better travel connections opening up with direct
flights on Continental airlines from New York to Belfast and
more direct flights from Europe than ever before.
Eurofest 2006 will be the biggest ever international gathering
of DeLorean owners and enthusiasts from around the world. (Twelve
countries have registered so far!) There will be the usual visits
to the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum to see the original
Giugiaro wooden mockup, and of course the obligatory guided
visit around the factory at Dunmurry where it all began. The
test track is still there (despite rumours to the contrary)
and everyone will get a chance to drive or be driven around
this famous track or fly in a helicopter overhead. There will
be civic functions in recognition of our Silver Jubilee; Lisburn
City Council will host the International Anniversary Banquet
at their Lagan Valley Headquarters. There'll be receptions,
scenic tours, technical seminars, concours competition, a product
fair and much much more...
If you've been before - what's different this time? Tony Ierardi
from Naples in Florida has agreed to bring the very first prototype
DeLorean to the event and Alistair McCann will have Pilot 25
on display also. There will be an opportunity for delegates
who bring their DeLorean to Eurofest 2006 to compete in the
first ever DeLorean World Autotest Championship. Maybe you're
a pinball wizard, if so you'll fancy your chances in an exclusive
Back to the Future pinball tournament. The Secretary of State
has even invited us to visit Hillsborough Castle. And there's
more...
There are now 50 DeLoreans in Ireland and their owners promise
you exceptional hospitality. A number of ideas were put forward
that will make this 25th anniversary extra special.
There are special rates at the four star Europa Hotel in Belfast
and other budget priced accommodation in the Lisburn City area.
You
can now register on-line to book your place at the event.
The DeLorean Owners Association is proud to support this landmark
occasion and with the support of Delorean Owners in Ireland
your visit to Northern Ireland in 2006 certainly will be a memorable
one.
